CNN had this as their exclusive. Now that everyone learned, I might as well chimed in while some people don't believe in the television news anymore. Honestly, if you're one of those people, trust me, you can't trust news online all the time either.
So with this news, it's similar to any others that it's always some interesting here and there about Jobs. This one is probably one of those, but it's more interesting that it could've ended Apple.
Steve Jobs had pancreatic cancer. It was diagnosed back in 2004. This was when Apple's stock was at $11.28 ... That year alone, Jobs pulled that stock up to $44.86. That's quadrupling the price. Why does it really matter? Jobs didn't announce it to anyone besides close friends and the board members. Not only that, he held that in and never received a treatment for approximately 9 months.
When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, it was at the "curable" stage. (Please also keep this in mind that Pancreatic Cancer is one of the deadliest cancer, 4th leading cause of cancer death) After 9 months, who knew what could've happened. Jobs didn't care, he stuck with it. He was trying to "solve" the issues himself by maintaining a special diet. So that he wouldn't have to go through surgery and noone will have to hear about it.
Obviously, that didn't happen. He ended up needing the surgery and thankfully that his cancer was still remained at "curable" stage. Afterward, noone really knew the detail until he finally came forth about it. When he came forth, the Apple's stock only went down 2.4% The stock would've suffered more had Jobs came forth about the conditions. Considering that many people considered him as "irreplaceable" for Apple.
Remember this, Apple's stock was at $11.28 per share when all this shmole thing happened. At one point (2 months ago), Apple's stock was peaking at $200.xx per share. Now, it's dropped down quite a bit to $124.49. Because of his secrecy, the company's share gained more than 1000% and almost 1900% at one point.
How's that for commitment? I don't really like the man, but I cannot deny how great he is for Apple.
