SoftMaker has launched a public beta of SoftMakerOffice 2008 for Pocke PC.
SoftMaker Software GmbH, the creaters of the multi-platform office suite SoftMaker Office. They announced today that they're releasing the SoftMaker Office 2008 for Windows mobile Classics and Professional Pocket PCs.
What is different for this version than the normal Office that comes with your Pocket PC is that it's a first full featured applications and 100% compatible of the Microsoft Office Suite.
It comes with 3 applications and they are TextMaker 2008, PlanMaker 2008 and SoftMaker Presentations 2008.
TextMaker 2008: Works as of it was PC's Microsoft Words. PlanMaker 2008: Reads, writes all Excel worksheets seamlessly. Supports Excel-compatible charts, AutoShapes, drawings and some other functions. SoftMaker Presentations 2008: Comes with ready-made templates and the ability to create, edit and manage slides. It can also insert and edit drawings, graphics, tables, text frames. It can even apply animations of PowerPoints.
All of these applications should be working on any Windows Mobile Touchscreen devices with StrongARM or Xscale CPU and spports Pocket PC 2000, 2002, 2003, 2003CE. Windows Mobile 5 Professional and Classic as well as 6 Professiona and Classic. It won't work with Windows Mobile Standard Smartphones yet.
It can be installed on memory cards.
The beta will last until March 31, 2008. After t hat, it'd either be the completed software, or another beta will come out. You can download the beta here. Keep your eyes out on this though. There might be a version for Standard soon.
