The guys from MobileTechReview have some reviewed of the ETEN Glofiish X800. They have done it previously and I'm sure I have it somewhere posted on the front page, but this new review they had done was in the US. They will be running the test and stuff through US carriers.
To summarize the review. The HSDPA in the US (using AT&T as the carrier, since T-Mobile is still waking up to join the 3G race) works just fine with the X800 while the HSDPA in Europe showed some issues. The phone will actually supports 3.5G (where available). It is a triband phone, 850/1900/2100MHz 3G that is capable of the world's 3G.
What if you want it and you don't want to join the dark side (AT&T)? You can also use it on T-Mobile network. It'll run on EDGE if it must, or even GPRS when EDGE is not available.
well, I don't have a choice of switching phone (that's for one) but their customer service is terrible. When I switched from T-Mobile to them, I requested a number transfer and it took them around a week to do it. The reason is they were lazy. (I called and they said I requested it, call back in 2 days and everytime I called, they said that over and over again)
their EV-DO is one of the few things I'm staying here for. Their voice is not very clear (even if I have full bars) and calls are dropping quite often. When I had T-Mobile and talking to my gf (she has Sprint) the voice was terrible, I thought it was T-Mobile, but now my service has changed and it still sucks :-p
Man, what a way to learn. But in the event you do get a GSM phone, feel free to come back to T-Mobile. No major complaints from me thus far (save for SMS and 3G).
