Success of HTC Touch

I guess I have been writing quite a bit about the HTC Touch and its brothers (Touch Dual and Touch Cruise). I don't know if I'm writing about them mostly because I own them, or because they have a lot to be written about. In any case, here is another article on the Touch.

When the Touch first came out, there were many speculations about it that it'll become the iPhone killers. Believe it, or not, it wasn't. Instead, it was a good healthy alternative for the iPhone.

According to Apple's CEO Steve Jobs at MacWorld Expo, he mentioned that the company has sold 4 million iPhones since the launch date. The HTC Touch was outdone by Apple, but still managed to pull out more than 2 million in its own sales. That's only the HTC Touch alone (not including Touch Dual or Touch Cruise). The Touch launched couple of weeks ahead of the iPhone.

HTC, the company that created the Touch, is expecting to have a strong year again like last year. The first quart looks good so far and will probably be better than the same quarter last year, according to Peter Chou, the CEO of the company, at the year-end company party. In China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, this is the time that companies are usually holding their parties, since it's near their Lunar New Year.

At this point, they seem to be rolling and not stopping. The Touch definitely has been their success and their dark horse. With the new devices coming along (in Dual and Cruise), they are on the track to be on another hot year.

Their end of the year report is suggested to be around $3,655 million. Not too shabby, eh?

*side note* there were 73 Touches in that picture

No QC Department!

I have to agree with your article 100%

HTC is fantastic at the 'WOW' factor of their products... HTC produces some very nice hardware and I'll admit I did drop the full price on the Mogul and like so many other's after not learning enough with that fiasco I turned around and dropped the full price on the Touch...

HTC Mogul being an absolute wonderful phone/pda with all of the bells and whistles one would want in a 'swiss-army knife' phone dropped the ball from five miles up on the memory issues plaguing the phone/pda.

How could it get much worse for HTC... Well, they figured it out and released the Touch! Like so many others after dropping the dollars on the Touch and feeling for a very breif time that HTC got 'it right finially' it was quickly dashed when now the new disaster was a device that randomly would and continues to trash files on the Mini SD card!

HTC just cannot seem to get it right and what is worse they don't seem to have any concern or care for the American market at making all of the issues corrected.

SprintPCS should thank HTC, at least in part for Sprint's recent decision to layoff another 4000 employee's... First the 'fire costomers' by SprintPCS is financial suiside for Sprint... Unacceptable phone/pda equipment is just not going to be tolorated in any consumer market...
