Let's focus on the good side of Qualcomm at the moment. (if you didn't get that, it's because they're kind of under the fire for copyright or patent stuff) There's a new prototype that I stumbled on at Engadget. It looks... frigging awesome.
The company is showing the strength in its designs. Not only that, but it's showing off the power from its own new and very packed of Snapdragon chipset. Supposedly, the chipset is very powerful and probably the best power to performance ratios in the mobile world.
There are two devices that Qualcomm decided to show the boys at Engadget off:
"Fairbanks" is Qualcomm's idea of the next-gen GPS unit. From its looks to its 3mp still/video camera, a TV tuner and microSD expansion on a custom Windows CE base. I'm not sure how that really relate to us, but I think it's something to keep an eye on.
"Anchorage" (pictured) is a typical slide-out QWERTY smartphone concept, but it's packed with a nice uppercut punch. It comes humming with a 1GHz processor. Not much of other specs is mentioned, but with that "Snapdragon chipset" it doesn't require much more to sell itself!
Unfortunately, we don't know or have any more details about these little babies. It also saddens me to mention that neither of these babies are retail-concept... so I don't know what they are doing with these devices, nor why were they so cruel and showing us those... In any case, I'm very interested to find out what's going to happen and come out with these devices!
