There's nothing new to the application here, except that there's a new way to use it. The application is Live Search. The addition is a great add to the convenience of the app, by letting you transfer it to your device.
So when you're sitting at your desk and use maps.live.com. After finding the directions or locations of where you want to go, click on the "Send to..." link at the top of the table containing the directions.
Then it'll ask for your phone number. Then it should send you the SMS that contains the link to the direction!
