The Canadian man from Calgary age 22, received a bill of $60,000, which was later adjusted after he called to $85,000 from Bell Mobility. He mistakenly believed that this $10 unlimited mobile browser plan would also be counted towards internet connectivity.
Staniaszek explains to CBC News, “I told them I wasn’t aware that I could be charged fro hooking up my phone to the computer. I’m going to try top figt this because I didn’t know about the extra charges. Nobody explained any of this to me.”
Bell has responded with a goodwill gesture, and reduced the bill to $3,243, which is still ridiculous. In the companys defense, spokesman Mark Langton explained that he “should have known that using a cellphone as a modem wasn’t part of his data plan, and that it wasn’t accidental.” How greedy can a company get?
