Continental Airlines announced that they will be testing a cellphone-based boarding pass system at Huston’s Intercontinental Airport. The system will enable single passengers to show what looks to be like a DataMatrix 2D barcode alongside with their ID which will be scanned from the screen of a device by personnel for boarding flights. The program will last three-months, in which if the program is a success, we may be using our phones instead of paper tickets. This will save a lot of paper and costs. Its nice to receive a ticket though, as a souvenir from a good trip.
