Sadly, but it is true. Sprint's subscribers may not be getting the WiMAX or "4G" as soon as Sprint and Clearwire had planned. The deal that the two companies have made have been pulled.
The two have given up on trying to finalize an agreement to jointly build nationwide WiMAX-based network saying "complexities of the transaction and the departer last month of Sprint Chief Executive Gary Forsee" as the primary reasons why this isn't working.
Sprint still has other options to go for its goal of obtaining WiMAX. Putting the WiMAX up with Clearwire seems to be the most efficient way, since they are not doing too hot as a company in itself already.
Although there's no word whether the two companies will work together, or might come back to work with one another for this project again. There are some words, however, that some companies such as Intel and Nokia (Samsung... etc.) would be interested in financing Clearwire for the WiMAX project.
