The FCC Chairman Kevin Martin stated that it will not change the rules established for the 700MHz auction to take place in January despite Verizon’s plea. Verizon along with other wireless industry giants have been criticizing the FCC for requiring the winners of the auction to comply with open-access rules. The condition was set to stimulate competition for the spectrum from non traditional players such as google which is considering to bid in the spectrum.
