This is an article from ChrissyBoy of Mobility Today. It is the article that tells us the differences between the world and Japan. We are much slower than Japan and we are not demanding enough.
Japan is leading the world with Mobile Device technology, but it's not because their phones are much better than ours. They have way more phones to choose from and they can do much more on their phones (ie. paying the bills in front of you, pay for train tickets, purchasing clothing online). They are known as a thumbtribe since they use their thumbs on the mobile phone so much. They prefer the mobile phone's internet over fixed internet at home. 127 million of mobile phone subscribers, over 100 million of those subscribed to the mobile phone internet.
The article points out that it's not the bandwidth that got the Japanese people hooked on, but it's the "fun and convenience" factor. They can offer these services with fair charges or not at all, but for us, we'd have to pay double for an internet access with an e-mail on our SmartPhones. Their mobile bandwidth is free to the carriers, so the carriers do not have to charge the consumers for it.
Hmm ..... we should also be more demanding... Read the article, it's worth knowing.
