Remember our article about the soon to be vacated 700Mhz frequency? Well Google, with all of its weight to push around, is prepared to spend at least $4.6 billion for the rights to use and operate on it. The frequency wont be open until 2009, but expect on this 700Mhz issue to get hotter and hotter. Google it seems, is dipping there hand in every cookie jar. Google intends to purchase the frequency spectrum under the conditions that the FCC's guarantees that any cellphone, computer, or other device could use the frequency for services such as mobile Internet access without being locked to a particular provider. Interesting stuff, stay tuned.
