The Release of the WS011SH

With the development of a hot, new product alongside several large companies such as Sharp and Willcom, it can be extremely hard to keep it on the down low—and Microsoft can surely attest to that! At a WM6 Japanese Edition press conference on June 6th—and only one day left until the official announcement of their product—Microsoft could not help but to give the world a peek of the ultra-thin WS011SH device. Though Microsoft had “accidentally” leaked a picture of the WS011SH a full day before, turns out, the device had a completely different reference design on the day of release. It’s a good thing that everything turned out the way it did, or else Willcom would have been an unhappy party.

Here are some of the features of the WS011SH device:
  • 3-inch wide WVGA TFT screen
  • 520 Mhz CPU
  • 256 MB flash
  • 128 MB SDRAM
  • 50mm wide and 17.9mm thick
  • Weighs 156.9 grams

This is the one of the best ppc or smartphones I have seen. It boasts some nice numbers while still having a ton of phone functionality. I miss just pressing number buttons instead of a screen. I would like to see a company come out with a robust, semi large screened flip. I loved open to answer and miss it a lot.
