Last week we saw that T-Mobile removed the T-Mobile MDA from their website and now we already have news of the next Windows Mobile Pocket PC to replace it. What we know as the T-Mobile Wing aka HTC Atlas, will be the successor to the MDA.
The overall form factor of the Wing is very similar to that of the Cingular 8525. It will come in a blue rubberized casing similar to the T-Mobile Dash with a slide-out QWERTY that slides out to the right rather than the left which we saw on the MDA. The QWERTY also has a couple key rearrangements; the numbers have been moved from the top to the right, and also include two LEDs indicating ‘Cap’ and ‘Alt’. The front hardware buttons are uniquely places with a circular pad in the middle.
Internally we don’t see much improvement, which to me and probably the rest of the world is disappointing. OMAP850 processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, 240x320 display, USB. The only thing exiting about the Wing will have to be the fact that it’s running off Windows Mobile 6 Professional, which in fact may seem snappier despite its lacking specs.
No word on pricing just yet, but expect it to be released in August of this year.
