iPhone user interface for Pocket PCs among Smartphones and Treo have been widely distributed over the internet. But Apple came in and took that privilege away as the distribution of the icons were infringing copyrights. To make a long story short, the iPhone interface can be distributed without any copyright issues just as long as the icons are not Apple’s. So some developers went ahead and changed the icons and made a program to imitate the iPhone user interface and began distributing it.
Now you can get the download now in our download section. Be sure to read the Readme file as it has important information for using this program. I haven’t played around with it yet but for those who try it let us know how it works for you by posting in this thread.
I have downloaded it and it sure is good looking...only thing is that out of 15 icons on the screen, some are not supported...ie settings, stocks, maps, weather and ipod.
When you tap on the time on the screen, it will lock the screen and you'll need to slide the arrow to unlock the screen. Time on the PDA cannot be changed as the setting function is not supported.
Other than that, it serves the basic requirement for shortcuts to the respective applications.
Go up to Dale's post that started this thread and select the link phrase 'download now' which will be in a different format. That takes you to this site's Download section and its posting about the iPhone UI package. Select the link that says 'Download iPhone UI' and the download will start.
The button functions can be remaped in the config.ini file. Change the configeration on your pc then recopy the ini file to the location you stored the ilauncher on your device. If your path is accurate, all the buttons can be reasigned.
This thing works pretty well. I just installed it and was worried at first but its really smooth. Does anybody know if we add more buttons etc? The readme said that it was fully customizable, however I dont want my currency converter to read stocks. Plus I have like three buttons that lead to the same place, but I cant change the pic so it would be retarded to have an @ taking me to space trader.
An admitted newb, I've only had my Cingular 8125 for less than a week, and I was scouring these forums for tips and tweaks for a week before that. I just installed this one and am impressed at the ease of one-touch app launching versus WM5's 'Start', hunt & peck using a stylus.
The only suggestions I can offer that could be beneficial would be:
1) A way to change/add/remove the icons to reflect the app (Word Mobile, Skype, WMP, File Manager).
2) Be able add additional layers of icons, a la the old Palm OS, for multiple apps in that category (such as Games).
3) Provide for SoftKey use or remapping (one could be the Traditional Windows 'Start' key, for instance).
Otherwise, it looks real slick! Very impressive for a first go-around.

Just noticed that the time shows GMT no matter what the time zone setting is in WM5 Clock Settings (I'm on Eastern U.S. Daylight Time).
When I am saving it onto my phone it says Cannot copy thumbs access is denied. When i run Launcher.exe it starts but says Unable to open configuration file. Only 3 icons appear all others are blank white spots. When I click on a icon it says Access Violation at 0x128ac.
Its been a while since I have had it installed. But when you put the files on your phone. One of them should say launcher.exe. You just hit that and it brings up your iPhone UI.
oK I have syncd my phone 2 my comp and opend the explore folder and draged the iphone down load into the explore folder my phone doesnot react 2 the transfer but i can find the folder in the phone
heres a perspective and obviously an opinion but with bases and background.
Ok you can not copyright look and feel mac has already lost this lawsuit with windows 3.0 which steve jobs tried to convice the supreme court that bill gates stole his idea and yeah he sort of did but he made it better in a way anyone who has programmed in c compaired to mac knows that c is so much easier and im not a programmer but i know many and the ones that program for mac get paid quit a bit more. and this is obvious because mac states how they dont have any viruses why do you think they dont. anyone who can program for a mac wants to get paid where anyone with half a brain can program a virus for a pc.
Ok a little ramble heres the deal if you have a monet an original thats 90" by 180" and take a copy of it and make it 60" by 90" you couldnt say its an original could you. So if you take the original icons for the iphone and make them smaller with a different shade could you say they are original of coarse not.
Ok steve jobs stole the idea of touchflo from htc which had the workings of the touch almost a year before steve jobs introduced the iphone which is why its behind tech the touch with a 200mhz processor and other specs. And further more had to buy out the name iphone from that network company the name is off right now as im tired but starts with a "c" the big one.
Ok just a perspective go ahead someone put me off but you know steve jobs is stealing just like bill did and hes getting away with it why because hes a millionar p@$$y with a bank background and out of ideas so he has to steal them from the number one ppc company HTC. Sounds like a lawsuit to me.
