It's about time that the US version of the T-Mobile MDA got some love. This latest ROM update version 2.26.10.2 offers a Radio fix for the signal search and acquisition issue, speeds up the ActiveSync 4.2 connection, updates the CommManger as well as *drum roll please* A2DP! Get the update here!
To find your MDA's version:
From the Today screen, press "Start".
Select "Settings".
Select the "System" tab.
Select the "Device Information" icon.
Check the ROM version. If your device software version is not 2.26.10.2, it is highly recommended that you download and install this software.
OK.. first observation is that I'm still reinstalling all of the software. The old Palm software did this automatically, but the ActiveSync actually does it in a 2 step process which isn't bad at all.
I actually reinstalled some software manually before I realized that ActiveSync could handle it. :-/
The Connection Manager seems to be a lot more straightforward, though Bluetooth is insisting on a passkey, even for equipment (my gps) that doesn't use it). And it actually now has a separate connection function for the GPRS (data connection), which is useful if you want to disconnect the GPRS and activate WiFi... and I still have to test this out.
Tonight I expect to reprogram the Voice REcognition software for making calls...Next week I expect to get the stereo headphones and will check out the A2DP function.
Finally, I have an icon for Tzones on the phone... I clicked on it, but didn't see anything special... it just offered me help files for the phone...
I did the update with de new Rom to my T-Mobile unlocked and it´s working ok. I notice a lot of changes: good wireless, fast sync, mores stable; but it didn´t lock. Im happy

That's great to hear! Let us know of any other new fixes you find!
Has anyone tried this on their 8125? I'm very interested to hear whether it's something I could use on my cingualr device, but I'm still too chicken to try it.
hello tim ! what is the latest rom upgrade available for o2 xda mini...my present version.......rOM VERSION..1.12.00 WWE...............Radio version...1.12.00..............protocol version...1337.42..............ExtRom version...1.12.152 WWE....if any upgrade is available, kindly give me link...further more i need to run a java applet on my xda but browser(PIE)doesnt support?what to do? thanks
well, I just went to Cingular and the guy that helped me figure out my ringtone problem told me that he has installed the T-Mobile ROM update on his 8125 and it worked perfectly, so I'm installing now.
Brandice:
how did it work after the hard reset?
I know that when I installed the new ROM it was just like a hard reset: I lost everything I'd loaded...
Actually, it wasn't a hard reset, but a soft one, because the update failed. I got a message saying it had failed after my screen turned in to three stripes with bizarre numbers and then shut off and on, and then just froze on that tri-colored screen.
Scared the crap out of me, but after a soft reset it was okay, just no update.
*whew*
Anyone want to help with this, I'll be happy to try again. Couldn't find any other links for different ways to download that might work, but as of right now, won't work for me.
It DID work for the Cingular tech who has the same phone... don't know why it wouldn't work for me.
hey there...i bought my phone from the uk...and then unlocked it through a t-mobile site. Recently i was looking for an upgrade of the ROM (because mine right now is 1.6.2.105) and then isaw this link. i downloaded the file and everything and then i got an error says : error: vendor id ...what exactly is that?! why can i not upgrade?
Tsatsos007, I think you have to check back with T-Mobile... they should be able to reset your phone.
Of couse offering some sacrifices to the MDA god might also be advisable
But be careful, the MDA gods tend to like eating up budgets, miniSD cards, skins, themes, and every so often, a critical file.... ROFL
Now, if you're into HUMAN sacrifice, then Lovely maidens and any PC Addicts who wish to sacrifice themselves can plan to bring plenty of refreshments to share for ... wait! Tim, do you have a BBQ area in this forum? LOL
Hi, everyone!
I just spoke with T-Mobile tech support about the upgraded ROM putting a T-Zones icon on my screen.
I have "good" news and "bad" news: "bad" news first:
we can only access "limited T-Zones" (with no outside Internet availability from T-Zones). Even IM is not Internet based, unless you have the GPRS service connected... sorry...
"good" news: you can check your "my T-Mobile" account and page as much as you want, even if you don't pay the monthly $5.... yeah... That's the good news - what? you expected them to really offer us free anything?
The techs I spoke to were really nice and very helpful... the last guy I spoke to, Andrew (I think) said that the T-Zones availability was something new, because Windows based PPC's are apparently restricted in their use of T-Zones... this doesn't agree with what Tim has told us before, but I'm just passing the info along.
Great update Manny, that's for checking that out for us. about the "restricted use of T-Zones" what exactly does that mean? I'd love to correct myself if only I can understand what they are saying!
Honestly, what I understood is that for the MDA, T-Zones for free is just as useful as T-Zones for $4.99/mo.... you can only check your account. Apparently, it isn't possible to check your mail, etc. through the T-Zones servers, as other Internet enabled phones can do it... :-/ Weird, isn't it??? :-?
Just a quick note about the new ROM and installing old Bluetooth devices: the new ROM insists you put in a password if you are using a serial port, which makes it very difficult to communicate with devices (such as the GPS i have) that don't use encryption...
The trick is to tell the serial port NOT to use encryption (a checkbox in the advanced menu for serial ports), and make sure that everything got setup right... I had to try about 10X before the GPS unit connected correctly... (very frustrating)... But.... I finally got it right!
Good luck everyone who is updating or getting a new MDA!

Great tip Manny! Also, I'd assume that there are default passwords for some Bluetooth devices without displays (i.e. headsets) and the password is usually 0000 or 00000...
