Microsoft (continues) to go after the largest wireless market in the world

Ubiquitous Microsoft Corporation is looking forward to the issuance of high-speed wireless licenses by the government in the biggest wireless internet market in the world... you guessed it: China. With over 400 million mobile phone users in China, they are the the industry to tap when it comes to all things wireless -- the forefront the launch will be 3G.

Microsoft can expect some sturdy competition from Symbian, a London based firm, and China Unicom, the company which brought China the "Redberry" (yes, similar to the BlackBerry with differente spelling). Out here in my neck of the woods (Seattle, Washington), Microsoft is collabing with China Mobile Ltd and China Unicom to develop the applications which will potentially run on the soon to be updated device market.

Perhaps the most interesting (maybe the only) quote of this article comes from an understatement by Scott Horn, Microsoft's mobile and embedded device big dog: "We're going to see dramatic growth".

Because we're mobile-gadget-people, perhaps you'd be interested to also know more than 6 million units around the world using the Windows operating system were sold in 2005. And in 2007, the sales of the Windows powered devices are expected to double to a whopping 20 million (put that together, and you'll see the numbers climbed "quite nicely" from 6 million to 10 million units from '05 to '06).

Personally, its hard for me to get excited about the continued global expansion of Microsoft -- its just too big already, like staring into the sun -- another solar flare won't catch me by surprise. Or something.

By way of MS Mobiles.
