General News for the Addict | US Gov't launches probe into Lenovo PCs

By way of BBC News , the US-China Economic and Security Review Comission (USCC) has made known its fear that some of the 15,000 Chinese manufactured Lenovo PCs the US goverment purchased maybe bugged. This dispute and alarm was not be unforeseen as some months ago, the government launched an inquiry into Lenovo's acquisition of the PC branch of IBM, demonstrating caution if not suspicion.

I suppose at least the reason for some concern is understandable. After all, you're dealing with 15,000 Chinese, Lenovo built PCs being used by US government officials. Well, that's not to say private parties don't deserve the same kind of protection, but its natural that if secured information is being handled on these machines, erring on the side of caution might be a good thing. That said, its understandable that Jeff Carlisle, vice president of government relations, made it clear that investigations were not necessary and Lenovo had "nothing to hide".

Thoughts?
