UMPC Unveiled!

The unveiling of Intel’s UMPC (ultra mobile PC) has finally come…and from the looks of things, the concept is pretty sweet. We can only expect a line of UMPC devices to be released in the near future with the first batch of devices to have a 7” touch screen and full-on desktop operating systems running with a 3-hour battery life. As with almost everything else, the devices will most likely get smaller for the next round of devices with improved battery life.

With the UMPC you can take the Internet to places you never thought before.
A thing of the future...now!
YOU CAN get information on the hottest sales and promotions at the Mall while you drive by.
YOU CAN compare prices online while you are visiting a store and make the right decision.
YOU CAN get GPS information while driving or walking.
YOU CAN do email, or monitor work while standing in line at the DMV or at any other place you usually got bored at waiting and wasting your time.
YOU CAN surf the internet for the latest news while cooking in the kitchen.
YOU CAN download your music, videos, TV shows, photos and email, chat, IM friends…all from a small, thin device that fits in your purse!

From the usage descriptions on the UMPC site, I can’t help but notice the target audience being women… and women who like to shop, have poor sense of direction, and cook for that matter.
Intel also found in its testing that the devices appeal to active mothers, who, the chipmaker learned, have schedules similar to corporate road warriors.
"It was something we didn't expect," Graff said.

Finally, someone who understands...

So, I guess us guys are just supposed to wait for the smaller, longer-lasting ones, huh?
