"A new proof of concept virus called "Crossover" has been created for Windows dektops and handhelds, designed to spread from your PC to your PDA via ActiveSync. When run, the virus checks what OS it is running on, if Windows it waits for a sync to make its way to a handheld, and once it detects that it's running on Windows Mobile it deletes the My Documents folder. We're glad this is just a proof of concept for now, and just hope it stays that way."
Ooooh... scary, just make sure you have everything backed up each time to connect your PDA to your computer. A proof of concept is just what it is, the proves that the concept works. Don't be too scared though, if this gets serious , the big antivirus guys will have something out for the Pocket PC and I'm sure [hope] Microsoft is working away to get patches released.
So, let me get this straight. We have no real viruses that require any virus protection software for PDAs. So this company creates one to show all the malicious hackers out there that it can be done so they will. So that now they can sell the software we didn't need before. I guess everybody needs to make a living.

that's what i'm gathering from it -- i want to say its unsurprising how far things have gotten (act cynical, i suppose), but once in awhile, things as ridiculous as these still catch me off guard.
