According to an article on CNN, the public is warned of a globe-spanning legal crackdown on file sharers is imminent.
Patew! (btw, that's a spit on the ground :P ) I spit in your general direction! (reference to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" )

Yeah, I have only used the legal downloading services but I still feel there is an injustice here. They shouldn't be going after the person who downloads the music, they should be going after the organization who created the software..
Ohh what's the matter "Mr. Big Record Company", can't you find the creators of KaZaa? Too slippery for ya? So you go after the little guy....Nice.

Hi,
I agree they should not be going after the downloaders but i do not agree they should be going after the software developers. (Which they have already tried by the way and lost.)
They are actually not going after downloaders but uploaders. The problem is the default settings of kazaa and other p2p software is that if you do not change anything when you download anything you download is available for others to download off your machine, even if you only download from legal sites.
If you have not set your software to stop this you, even if your buying the music, are allowing others to download from you making you a target for being sued.
In Canada in december the law was changed so that downloading is now legal. BUT Uploading or allowing others to download from you is still illegal.
Also all suing so far has been against "agrievous" uploaders. Those people with 3000 or more songs available for dowload off of their machines. If you have kazaa installed make sure that you have changed the settings so that you are not a super node and that you are not allowing downloads from your machine and you will not be a target for a law suit.
Happy listening,
YSRD
This is getting to be like a Soap Opera. In the other thread "Kazaa Owner Gets OK to Sue Movie, Record Companies" we see Kazaa going after teh Movie and record companies... while the Record companies are going after those that distribute major amounts of files....
What will be next? 532 users of Kazaa sue Music Artists and Actors for creating content that they feel should be distributed for free?
