For everyone that has this phone what do you think the best app to have?
That really depends upon your needs. I am partial to PhoneWeaver and Pocket Breeze (SBSH Mobile Software - Making smaller bigger), but you may not have any use for one or both. After that is iLauncher (also SBSH) followed by either SK Tools or MemMaid (I have both).
Opera browser
adobe flash lite
adobe reader battery status
java midlet manager
google maps picsel browser pocket rar oxios close apps total commander Hubdog 2.1
pocket cm

i dont know about tcpmp anymore, it makes my softkeys not work after i open it and it doesnt play .wmv files at the same pace windows media mobile does... but only plus it has is it plays .avi and other files windows media doesnt, and allows hot keys, but u have to overclock to get at least a decent framerate

oh thanks...i dunno what overclocking is...all i am really looking for is a good stream playing program and one that will allow me to play the movies that i have downloaded on my CPU

well overclocking is just making ur PPC's CPU(processor=the thing that makes it work lol) go faster. default speed is 195 mHz but thats kinda slow and for many things u might want to overclock it. i warn you though if you overclock too high (300 mHz or above) you CAN fry your PPC and render it useless. so i recommend overclocking at any speed below 280 (from what I have heard). to overclock u can get batterystatus that has a built in Omap (overclocking utility) or just get the ompaclock.exe from the xda-developers forum (Wizard - xda-developers)
and windows media isnt bad though it is pretty feature stripped, tcpmp is basically what you should get. i dont know if pocketdivx works, i tried it but it wouldnt install on my 8125. and to watch videos i think you have to overclock because i tried watching a video file at 195 mHz and it wouldnt view right, frames jumping and pausing
which do you perfer personally...the one from HTC or batterystatus....i dont have much experiance so the easier the better...lol
which one from HTC u mean? HTC Home? that i havent tried
batterystatus is a must have, it has a task manager that lets u close apps(not minimize them) if u click or HOLD X, and has a lil arrow next to the X that lets u see open apps and lets u close or bring them forward. thats a big thumbs up right there
it has the little today screen plugin with all the useful info, and it has traylaunch(lets u have a little tray with app shortcuts) and overclocking of course. also has omap app which lets u set overclocking for just certain apps isntead of having ur device overclocked all the time
oh ok....your alot of help...i didnt expect to get help so quickly after joining...thanks you...so after your done using TCPMP do you just reset your phone to get your soft keys working again?
yeah basically thats wt i do though it kinda sucks, i dont know why it does that, cuz i have hot keys set for it which is pretty cool. there is an option that has "capture all keys" basically saying that it captures all ur hardware keys so u can use them in tcpmp, but u dont need to do that. i didnt do it yet it still makes my softkeys not work afterwards but meh i guess i will find a fix for it soon
oh well then batterystatus it is...is that something i have to by from that handango site or is it a free DL?...last night was the first time i ever active sinced my phone to my computer...i put a mp4 (ipod) video on my phone but it just played the sound (waist of time...lol)

yh i think u need tcpmp to view mp4. and batterystatus is free just look in the download section here if not ill find u a link or upload it.
well i was up all night(till about 6 this morning) learning new stuff and downloading programs and movies.
I got TCPMP and it plays my AVI movies great and batterystatus is a great program i dunno how i got around without that. I also got the NES emulator so i can play punch out while im waiting around or am in class (college)...the only problem im having now is that i have Avot Mv and im not really sure how to make it work for me....when i try to play videos it says: Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap settings. Any help on this problem would be appriciated. thanks
well it is recommended to use wifi, but u can use the cingular connection. but i warn u its kinda slow but it does load streaming videos and ive searched their videos and they seem to have much of the stuff on youtube and other sites. let me know wt connection u plan on using and i can help u from there.
i tried to use both and had the same problem...i dunno if it is allways trying to connect threw the cingular connection or what but i was connected to my wireless router when i tried the 2nd time...that msg pops up as soon as i click on a video....thanks for the help again
