My Phone's Setup 8525 & 8125

(Please note this is going to be an ongoing post which will take along time for me to complete)

Ok I have gotten a lot of PM's on this subject

People want to know what all I have installed on my phones
Well believe it or not its not an easy question, I am constantly using new programs and trying others. So I will start this but its going to be a long post and I will do my best to stay ontop of it. Some of the software I use is not ahh... well you know, so these are not all going to be put on the server here. But I will upload what I can.

Ok here goes I'll start with apperance as these are most of the questions I get asked the most. Im a visual person so I'll post pics.

Ok the first is a vista theme I like it alot so it goes on most of my phones you can find it here
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums...do=file&id=498

Ok the first today plug-in you notice is called battery status. Its a great program that can tell you alot of information on your today screen such as cpu temp, processor speed, how much ram and rom are in use or available, also atena strength, and of coarse your battery status. Well it doesn't stop there you can also overclock certain devices and manage your task bar. You can download it here and you will notice there is a lot of information in the download area on this great program but if you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer any questions in this thread.
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/file469.html

Also I have installed a vista theme for battery status it is straight forward and gives you a new look for battery status you can find it here.
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/file505.html

Ok next you will notice another great today plug-in. This is called HTC home plug-in and this is version 2.0 as far as I know your device needs to be running WM6 so it works on my 8525 and should work on the 8925, Wing, and HTC Touch. If this does run on WM5 please post below and what device you use it on. Ok I won't go into the major workings as thats not what this first post is for but if you have any questions post them below. You can download it here and note that it is glued to the top of the today screen, if you want to move it you will have to hack it. If you want to know how follow the link below the download.
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/file504.html

http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums...her-hacks.html

Ok one more thing is if you notice in the task bar there are certain icons, those are put there by battery status. It is an option you can select under options and you can map them to any program or file and a few other things.

Ok onto the actual programs I use I will list them in order from what I think is the best or what I use the most.

Ok this is tougher than I thought so they aren't in complete order as its real hard to choose which ones are really the best and also I use several devices and some are device specific I will note which ones.

1) I picked this because using this program is god as far as I'm conserned. This program is called Oxios Memory and I personally like it more than memory maid. It frees up ram held up by programs even after closing them. Even after performing a softreset you still have stuff stored in your ram. I have freed up nearly a mb of space even after a soft reset. You can download it here.
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/file493.html

2) Ok next is going to be Picel Browser if it were not for this program I would consider Opera Browser number 2 in internet browsers right below Deep Fish. Ok so yes Deep Fish is my favorite browser but this is not just a browser. Where Picel Browser you can view all your documents like word documents, excel, and power point. Its a great interface the down fall is sort of like Deep Fish. The downfall is that its copy righted software that is not licened to be used on any other ppc than Samsung devices like the i730. This can be downloaded here.
Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

3) Ok if Picel Browser is number one then Deep Fish is going to have to be number 2 as far as browsers go and since thats one of the main things I use my phone for then it just goes without saying. Unfortunatly it is beta software at this time and only a few of us have activation codes, and since it checks it everytime you log on I can't go around giving it out or I wont be able to use it. SRY

4) Ok well this next browser is number one as far as availability goes, Opera Browser its a great alternative to IE. Opera Browser allows you to view actual web pages by making your phone think the server is a pc. Also its a great user interface you can use back buttons and is more like using IE on your computer. Down side is that its not free but is definatly worth the $20. You can download the newest version here.
Products featuring the Opera Mobile Browser

5) Im going to go with Pocket CM being the next in line, Im not a big fan of the iPhone but it is user friendly and does have its perks, one being that it is finger friendly which is why I like the fact that ppc's are finaly getting some new software that is finger friendly. Pocket CM is a contact manager that is very finger friendly, not only that but it manages and maintains your text messages with your contacts. This is definatly a must for those of us with lots of contacts. You can download it here. It is free but if you like the program I would suggest a small donation.
PocketPCFreeware : Pocket CM (Ex ContactManager) 0.15

6) Ok now onto hacks as this is what I think is a very overlooked software. People see hacks and they think they are going to destoy there phone or warranties or what have you. Ok first of all some hacks can destroy phones, yes it is possible but generally done by manually removing the wrong thing in the registery or your ext. rom. There are some great hack programs out there that do registery hacks via simple comands by you.
I like to use HTCustom by Shadow Mite for my Hermes it is device specific please make a note of it. If you have a 8125 I would suggest HTweakC it is used for both devices and if you have a Hermes you can use a cool feature that save battery power. You can find more information of the two programs in the download section and they can be found here.
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/file486.html

http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/file491.html

7) HTC Audio Manager this is a great program that allows you to manage your mp3's it is great to use for the ease of use.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and know where to find it for the 8125?

Ok per request I dont actually use this but here it is and install instructions.

1. Install HappyTappingKeyboard.arm.CAB (to device, not to Storage)
2. Install Default_IM_WM5.CAB (to device, not to Storage; for WM5 only; if u already have other program which can set the default Input Method, skip this step & use that program instead)
3. Extract the files in ip_AC_Skin.zip to your PDA's "\My Documents"
4. Goto the "Option" of HappyTappingKeyboard (Start -> Setting -> Input)
- select "\My Documents\ip_AC_QVGA_P.bmp" for the ";Portrait Bitmap"
- select "\My Documents\ip_AC_QVGA_L.bmp" for the "Landscape Bitmap"
(if your PDA is VGA capable, select the ip_AC_VGA_?.bmp instead, and select the VGA option)
- press "OK" to quit
5. Start -> Program -> IMSelector
- select "Happy Tapping Keyboard" as the default Input Method
6. Soft reset your PDA
Attached Files
File Type: zip ipkeyboard.zip (440.9 KB, 69 views)

Sry I just relized that what I posted doesnt really answer your question.
Ok battery status does alot more than power bar. I like it more and more versital and customizable. Also it has omapclock built in for overclocking If your phone is able to be overclocked using that program you will see it as an option. 8525 cannot be overclocked this way and I use another program called omega battery plus pro to do this.
thanx
nate

u probably extracted the files from the .cab thats why. cuz usually xml and the others are in a .cab which is what u open in ur mobile to install the program. just download battery status again and open the .cab in your phone, about htc home i wouldnt know but i figure its the same
