Registry Hacks and other Hacks

Ok heres a new thread so that anyone who has a great little hack or some software that will improve our devices.

I will go first ok a few have notice that I have uploaded a great little today screen program called HTC Home plug-in. Well if you have notice it is locked at the very top of your device and you cannot move it up and down the today screen like you can every other today program.

Ok first you will need to download the file and install it, when ever installing a large program over 1mb its always best to do a soft reset.

Ok now you are going to be editing the registry of you devic.

I am nor is pocketpcaddict or anyone associate with us liable for you bricking your device, your girl friend becoming pregnant, your house burning down, or any other disaster.

I am only posting this for users that are comfortable with hacking and modding your device.

Now you need a registy editor I would suggest this one.

Ok open your task manager, then select the RegEdit in the drop down menu. Open HKEY_Local_Machine

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home

and change the value of 'Type' from 5 to 4. And that's it. The plugin can be moved to any place in Today.

But before changing the reg value you should unselect Home plugin as a Today item, and then select it again.

I pay for a subscription to xm and dont feel that i should have to pay for it on my ppc, i have a little radio that i can carry around but why carry both devices? Solution I would like to now point you in the direction of some software i have made readily available.

all you have to do is download this software and install it and you will have xm radio and mobi tv availble to you, please only download this software if you legally have a subscription to xm radio and rather have your device playing xm radio than carring around an extra device. you can download the program here and have xm radio aviable to your self.

Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

This file did not work with my 8125...does this only work with the Hermies or whatever its called?...i have it on my phone but when i click it it says "A network error has occured. Please verify your cellular or WiFi connection is active and then restart the app." its says that for XM radio and MobiTV
then when i click the XMmoviresetter it says "Error: This application (XMmobiresetter.exe) requires a newer version of the microsoft.net compact framework than the version installed on this device" thats all it tells me. Any help would be appriciated

um ok what data plan do you have, whos your service provider?

You need to install netframe work 2.0

It works on any wm5 device or wm6 doesnt matter on the device.

You need to configure your network settings like its telling you. If you have cingular you can download shogun's cingular settings off our server.

i have cingular.....now att....i am new and have no idea what a data plan is??? SO do i need to DLnetframe 2.0 and shoguns cingular setting??? or is it one or the other and will it change the setting automatically or do i still have to do somthing?

A data plan is something you purchase from your service provider so you can easily log onto the internet without wifi. Its about $40/mo. for unlimited with most providers. If you dont have unlimited I wouldnt suggest useing this software unless u use it specifically with wifi. You probably dont have a data plan which is why your having issues dont worry about downloading any of that stuff until you get a data plan.

oh i have unlimited internet on my phone which i pay $40 a month for so im guessin thats the data plan.....i got the shogun settings and i put the mobitv/xm software back on my phone...they both work but they both day 3 day free trials.... and when i click on that 3rd thing in therte (XMmoviresetter) it still says Error: This application (XMmoviresetter.exe) requires a newer version of the microsoft.net Compact framwork than the version installed on this device...does that mean i still need to DL that Framwork 2.0? thanks for the help again

Hey Nate,

Great plug-in! On another post, I downloaded it and installed it. I even tweaked it a bit!

But the plug-in is stuck on the bottom. I've been trying to get it on top, just like you said, but it doesn't work...

Did you follow the guide lines in the first post?

If so all you have to do is go to settings, today screen the select it and move it up or down.

I had the ppcgeeks application to sending pics to other phones with the mogul and it never worked for my phone...do u know of any other applications that can be downloaded to perform this task

that top part was all from your first post. now i'm not afraid to go into my registor and change some things as long as i'm walked through it and you did a good job at walking me to where i need to go after downloading task manager. My question is when i get all the way to the very end of your directions "change the value of "type" from 5 to 4" is where i'm lost. Let me tell you what I see when i get all the way to that part:

there are four Header (Name, Data, Type, and Size)

Under First Header (Name):
Type

Under Second Header (Data):
0x00000005(5)

Under Third Header (Type):
REG_DWORD

Under Fourth Header (Size):
4

Not sure what i'm suppose to be changing from 5 to 4. Can you help me out a little further please?

um dont have it installed at the moment once you get there hit the right softkey and it should give you an edit option then it will bring up the proper edit slot then just hit 4. Its pretty easy and once you get this far you should be able to do it.

I tried the right soft key like 4x and still got nothing...but from playing around with it I did get it to work...what I did was when I got to the very last step I took my stylus and held it on the last line till a drop down box came up, then i was able to tap the edit button and i changed the value from 5 to 4.

Thanks for pointing me in the right area Nate....I would have never gotten close without your help/support....did you check out my other post about downloading that hard spl vs olipro and which one to actually use before uploading your touchflo ruu yet? could use your advice there as well, thanks in advance.

I've been looking all over for a reg edit that will allow me to change the softkeys on the HTC S640, when there in an incoming call. As is they default to answer and ignore. when the phone is in the case these buttons are pushed (Yes even when the phone is locked). Otherwise a great phone, but this is such an annoying issue.

You dont have a full ppc you have a minor league version good for texting and emails but about it you need to upgrade to be able to use ppc programs and themes.
