hey i got the iphone yesturday and yeah it responds pretty good but you just got to get used to touching the screen with your fingers. something im looking forward to is knowing how to make your own ringtones. Anybody know how yet?
From what I've heard from friends that bought it, I'm staying away.
No MMS, No Voice Dial, No Speed Dial, On screen Keyboard is extremely buggy. Doesn't sound good.
My friend told me you can't access all youtube videos for some reason. He did say the video plays smoothly. He also said about every 5th time he opens the browser it will crash on him if he opens a second tab. He never mentioned any alignment problems so I don't know.
I do know his biggest complaints are:
lacking bluetooth profiles, he tried to send some stuff from his old phone & it won't allow it only headsets can connect. He recently bought a motorola S9 & now can't use it cause no A2DP profile.
Can't add his collection of ringtones.
no the phone has no allignment problems. Yeah youtube only has selected amount of videos but i heard that youtube is actually improving on that because they have to be in some formation. I also heard that ringtones, mms, voice dialing, video recording, and speed dialing are going to come thru in some software upgrades that suppose to come in the next few months. As long as they do come thru with those im gonna be happy as soon as they come out. I dont really use the dialing ones so its no big deal with me.
My two cents about the iphone!
as someone who works for a certain company that, might or might not, carry the iphone, i personally dont like it. Unfortunately its got a lot of cons to it.
No removable SIM card
No removable battery
No 3G
Limited Bluetooth profiles
No MMS
Battery life isnt that great (if your using alot of stuff at once)
And as stated earlier, some of these things will be changing with updates. Personally speaking i dont really care for the keyboard, but as a fat man, big hands dont do well on things like that.
As soon as i play around with it some more i'll update a little bit.
As far as I've heard the recption sux donkey balls and you can't have personal ringtones. And as an extra security, If u want to add mp3s, you have to have it tethered to ur PC. For security they don't allow over the air purchase of songs from I-tunes. But that's what I heard. I could be wrong.
Oh yeah...the keyboard will convert to landscape for typing ONLY when typing in a web address. So a text has to be don in normal view which makes it harder.
The sims card can be removed but you have to use a paper clip to do it. Personally I think the phone is a waste. Revolutionary device "yeah right"
Apples Reason for no 3g: "It will diminish battery life" oh & wifi doesn't please.
Reason for not being able to add your own ringtones: Purchase them through iTunes (sure it will come soon).
Reason for no A2DP Profile: Add on Accessories now they can charge you even more.
All the above is typical Apple, wants to control what you do & how you do it.
I have been telling people for months this thing is seriously outdated. How did apple ever think it was a good idea to put the full web on a device that was not 3g capable? And there is no hard touch for anything? It doesn't take a genious to know that screen is going to get severly beat up by your fingures. Thats why stylist were made. The hard drives are to small for all that functionability (they seriously advertised it like it was an 80 gig ipod). No Wi-fi? Thats a joke.
The HTC Kaiser is the real holy grail, not the iPhone. (that could change somewhat if the rumor i hear about it not being a touch screen device is true)
Don't get me wrong. I love apple, but a seriously flawed device should be called as such. I'll laugh at anyone who paid $600+ with a 2 year contract for this thing.
It has wifi; that is the only way to get a connection of reasonable speed. Supposedly it auto switches over to wifi whenever it detects availability. But this really can't make up for the snail's pace ATT network used at all other times. It is an interesting design concept crippled by a very short-sighted selection of choices in regards to slow wireless connectivity, zero memory expansion, and sealed battery. Unless they make some big changes in the next version, it is going to be a real flash-in-the-pan.
A co-worker was going to pick one up but decided not to because att/cingular doesn't provide insurance for pda/ppc. Something I knew already but he didn't and that bothered him due to the fact that the iphone had a glass screen. He said the rep told him that if u don't have the $ to buy a new one if it breaks then don't buy it at all. Surprising to hear that from a rep.
I personally think this was a very bad move on Apples part considering that newer phones are always being created. And unlike a normal ipod/mp3 player that you can use for a long time, people usually want to upgrade to better phones. So you spend lots of $ on this phone and then what if u want to upgrade? Spend a ton more money for the next version? It's not worth it in the long run.
