Cingular 8525 plans?

Hey guys i got my 8525 about a month ago. I love it so far but Ive read a ton about service plans and i really feel like I dont know exactly what kind of plan i need. I started with a 39.95 media plan. Ive found that i mostly use my ppc for a calendar and a reminder...and a phone. I really dont use the net except to show folks how cool this thing is so, i switched to a Media Max 200 Plan. Its suppose to give me ability to get on the web (unlimited, I think) and send 200 text msgs( i think) Now i dont text much at all so i think Im good with the number of textsand the web is good too. The only thing the cingular guy mentioned i cant use my 8525 for emails except for web based email...does that sound right? I dont understand why both the 39.95 plan and the 19.95 have unlimited internet...what gives? I know Im missing something. Can i just cancel these add on service and just use a wifi hotspot to send/recieve email and maybe check the web? The 20 bucks isnt a biggie but do i need it at all? Cingulars site is confusing, any advice on which plan if any i need? Thanks Fergy

Hi Fergy,

I've had my 8525 for about a week now. I used to own a Treo 650 and have always had the Media Max plan. You can MOST definitely access the same amount of data and the same features that you had with the $39.95. When I activated my 8525 while talking to a Cingular rep over the phone, I was given the same story about the Media Net plan not working with my device. I said: Thanks, but let me try it out and see. I haven't looked back. Both plans use the same 3G gateway, so relax and enjoy all the internet you can eat at a lesser cost than some.

I use a pop server, but understand that things can be set up with web mail; I just haven't had a need for it as I've found that the easiest thing to do is just forward all of my mail to my central account and collect it all there.

If Cingular realizes that you are on that plan they will more than likely take it off your account. They will notify you that any PDA type phone HAS to be on the 39.99 pda connect. (hint-that plan is called PDA connect)

Cingular (611) were the ones that suggested this plan.
