yah Skype isn't really a solution for the fact that you can only "call" other users who are currently on the software. That's basically an AIM with voice chat capabilities. I'm looking for something more along the lines of something like Vontage(broadband phone) to call an actual number not a user. I'm sure it doesn't exist because why would anyone with a wi-fi phone need a cellular provider if you could simpy make phone to phone calls over wi-fi.
I guess i dont understand what your looking for....if you have a wi-fi phone, and you want to make free calls.. that would be great.. but what happens when your not in a wi-fi hotspot?? unless your trying to use it as a free home phone.. but even then.. what if the power goes out?? i guess i just dont get it.. i can think of over a 100 reasons why you would still need a cellular provider.. and very few reasons to really have what your looking for.. so for now Skype does exactly what i need it to do.. untill we get free nation wide wi-fi.. but that will never happen in our lifetime..to much money involved.. and the rich CEO's dont like the idea of that..
