Question Please someone help me. I'm NEW at this stuff.

First off, I want to say hello to all of you that are faithfully on this site trying your best to answer people's questions and helping them with whatevet it is they need. You people are so WONDERFUL!!!! And thank you Tim for welcoming me also.

Now, the problem is, I have an i-mate K-JAM phone I just got from someone. It won't come on for some reason. I thought that the battery was dead and I know that you have to charge it using an USB port. So I went to WalMart and bought a 5 pin port that converts into a USB port. I plugged it into my computer to charge and usually when a phone charges, a light come on. This was not the case with this one. I thought that maybe I had to be working on my computer for it to charge. So I brought the phone to my job and plugged it in my computer here because I use this computer everyday all day. Still, no light came on. Please tell me what's up with this? Did I buy the wrong thing? Am I supposed to buy an i-mate K-JAM charger?

I need all the help I can get with this phone.

Thanks!!!!

i wish i could help more, but i dont have a kjam. but my recamendation is to get the actual charger.

but sometimes you can get lucky and use other chargers, for my 8125 I am currently using a Motorola SLVR charger and an AutoPower15 iGO charger with tip A32.

I received the charger for the kjam and left it on the charger for about 1 day a half now. It is still not working. What's wrong? No light is blinking and it is not powering on.

I don't have a K-JAM, but on a couple of other devices I have had what seemed to be a refusal to charge. Try taking the battery out for a couple of minutes and then reinsert it, making sure it is properly seated. I'm not sure but I think that the circuit in some lithium batteries that protect from overcharging get 'stuck' for lack of a better term. It is also possible that the battery needs to be replaced. But try removing and reinserting it before looking at replacements.
