im gonna buy a 8125 soon and this is probably a stupid question but is wifi free?
hvlacrosse16!
Welcome, it's not a stupid question actually its agood one.
Let me first give you some info about wifi, its acutally a wireless connection to LAN or WAN.
Now your question if its free or not, well it really depends on who own the wifi access point who is broadcasting the WIFI connection, if he/she open the connection to everyone without the security connection then is free and that's great.
Now most of coffee shops offer free wifi connection to their customer while zipping their favorite brew... now that is added service and maybe more customer to them...good for customer too...
I hope it helps...

Hi hvlaccrosse16 !
I've got the 8125's cousin, the MDA, and I'm about to cancel my GPRS full internet service and rely on "free wifi" for a while...
Just don't get frustrated when you find an "open wifi" that you can't connect to... using "free wifi" is amatter of learning where to connect, such as in or next to public libraries...
so what people are sasying is if i use my wi-fi on my 8125 & surf at an open wifi connection at the local coffee shop, that does not charge against my GPRS MB limits or make my bill go up due to data transfer?

The answer is YES. Wifi is a different connection. GPRS uses the phone to connect.
So go ahead to your favorite coffee shops and surf via wifi all you want...
don't forget the coffee..

RAwn: just one warning that you should have.
If you have contracted for GPRS, your PPC will try to connect to GPRS before trying to use WiFi. So make sure you've disconnected the GPRS and connected the WiFi BEFORE turning on your browser...
this is so bad that when connected to your PC, if you try to use your web browser on the PPC, it says it's impossible to connect because it can't activate the GPRS... :-/

Good luck!
manperez!
you might want to connect to WIFI first before opening your browser. Because if you try to open your browser first the next thing that it will do is connect to the internet using the available connection in 8125 case is gprs.
