Welcome to Pocket PC Addict NELL! I'm glad that you are loving your Cingular 8125. I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with installing applications and games on the phone. Can you tell me what trouble you are having? Make sure you have ActiveSync installed on your desktop PC!
Hey now, this seems to be the introductory post... so here I am. Had the 8125 for a little while but just now learning what its capabilities. So I am all set as far as upgraded my ROM (didn't know I would lose all my numbers btw), threw on Total Commmander and edited the registry to make operating go faster (i think), grabbed Magic Button and a poker game but thats it. Any suggestions on what to do next? I feel like I don't even know what this thing is really capable of and I don't know where to go next.
Hi people, I,m from Puerto Rico, just bought my 8125 this week, now my bro want one but it must need to be unlock, already downloaded the program and instructions that Tim posted. Will try with my cellphone before my brohter buys his.
I will check the download section later...
Hi everyone (I think we have 4 new 8125 users in this post)
I have a "kissing cousin" of the 8125, and I can tell you these machines are AWESOME!
first of all, don't forget you have a hand held eBOOK reader !!! you don't have to get caught w/o your favorite read (or MP3, or video - yes even a movie!) wherever you go...
These "little" PPC's can do many.many things besides make phone calls, keep your calendar, and take pictures... and we have lots of downloads to help you do it. Just check them out, and try them.
Me? I'm using SPB Plus, Mobipocket Reader, WisePilot (GPS), Opera, TenGO keyboard, and a few other useful programs....
Enjoy, everyone, and don't forget to share your ideas and experiences with the rest of us!
the main problem was that my phone keep saying "invalid pc program". but i played with it all night and finally figred out what i was doing wrong thats soo much for replying soquickly. i am sure i will have more question.
Hey new here, and I have figured out how to store all my MP3's on my storage card and use them from there as my ringtones. What I can not figure out is how to use my MP3's as my alarm and notification sounds. Can anyone help?
Well wendigo. Im not positive but i dont think mp3's are able to be used as alamrs and notifications. I say this only cause i wanted to use one as well for my text messages. What i think you can do, which i haven't tried yet, is to convert the file into a wav format and then use that. I am not to sure which location it is to be saved either but, i think you might have to convert it into a wav file.
Can't unlock my 8125, everithing runs ok, but when I insert the Suncom SIM, it promts with the network key request screen. Any ideas? Performed soft reset and all that stuff.
I have a few questions for the experienced 8125 users just got my 8125 4 days ago and it seems like the battery doesn't last like it should... I have spb pocket plus and it tells me the battery is at 80% after maybe 5 hours of having it off the charger and barley using it. I also have it so the device sleeps after a minute of not using it and the back light turns off after a minute of not using it. Plus at the end of an 8 hour day, using it here and there for short calls and msg's the battery is reading about 40% I figured I should be getting allot more battery life out of it or is this normal for the device ?
Also another thing is there an option I have to set for ear buds to work properly in the device? I have tried two pair. The ones that came with the phone and one I bought at a cingular location. The only ear piece that works on both of them is the one directly linked to the volume control...
( I got this as a refurbished deal off the cingular site... Thank god it has the same warranty as a non-refurb if this is something wrong with the device)
jonperezinsd is right about MP3s not being supported for notification ringtones and they have to be converted to WAV. I recommend dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) fir conversions.
awesome man thanks. Yeah I checked it out last night and yep it worked. I just converted an MP3 to a wave and then placed it in my main windows folder, and walla! It worked, songs for my alarm in the morning, how nice.
Also, I noticed that if you store your MP3's in your rings folder it takes up your internal memory, but if you just store your MP3's on your flash card it does not take up any of your internal memory, and you can still use them as ringtones.
Hi, jonperezinsd!
Wisepilot is a freebie for the first 3 months... which is a plus... and it has updated maps, even for the wilds of Vermont... as such, it is a great option for the trial period.
After the trial period, though, since it is a server based option, you must understand it is useless when you are out of GPRS range (or in the middle of a forest, in the mountains), which can lead to frustration and uselessness. I see it as a wonderful tool for businesses who want their salespeople and other traveling employees to have the latest maps, but find it really clunky for the occasional user like me...
hey i downloaded some games on my 8125 and then decided to delete them. i chose "remove programs" but they r still there. i cant run them but i cant delete then either..

You mean the program icons are still in the program lists? if this is the case you can delete them using File explorer and browse to Windows-Start Menu-Programs.

Nell... everytime this happens to me (removing programs, but having their icons stay behind), I remind myself that even though my MDA is wonderful it is still running WINDOWS, with all it's faults...
As the new computer user said decades ago... "yessir, I'm still making the same mistakes as always, but with this computer I can do it so much faster!" LOL
manperez your right about one thing.
But let add some info why some of the icon programs are left behind when the programs is removed, this is not at all to be blamed at the OS, this happens because of bad coding of the application. You see before microsoft release a new version or R2(Release 2) of operating systems it may be desktop or mobile, SDK are already available for developers to work on.
This is to give developers to update/upgrade thier software be compatible for the upcoming new versions of OS.
This is just my 2 cents...

the icons are still there.i originally tried to go to file explorer and delete them, but the files dont exist anywhere else. i have tried reinstalling the program then trying and alternative method to delete them..? any suggestions..?
Nell, this might sound stupid, but go into your ActiveSync on your pc, and open the "add/remove programs" menu... if you see them on the list, have your computer reinstall them on your pc, and then use this window to remove them...
I'm not sure if it will eliminate the icons, but if you can't find the icon files anywhere... it might be hidden in your ActiveSync files...
the other solution, that I used inadvertently, was to update my ROM, which worked just like a hard reset....
