Just bought my wife a cingular 8125. She is impressed with all it's capabilities. I however, worry about the technology being way ahead of her capabilities. I had trouble with the phone sync'ng contacts. Never was able to solve the problem other than removing it as a sync option. Her phone now only syncs calander and tasks. She is using Outlook with a MSN.com email address. (MAPI)
I am looking foreward to finding answers to the many many questions I have or will have in managing this phone for her.
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict Alan! The Cingular 8125 is a great Pocket PC and your wife should be impressed by all of its possibilities because it's chock full of features. Can you please let us know what error occurs when you try to sync your contacts with Outlook? Please let us know if you have any other questions.
I don't remember the complete number but it is the one that ends 8....10017
I think it has something to do with the size, but she doesn't have more than 50 or so contacts. I thought the problem was that she had distribution lists within the contact list. I pulled them out but to no avail.
I really don't think its an autosync problem as much as an outlook problem.. she has Outlook 2003 running with her MSN e-mail account. The calander and tasks functions sync just fine.
hmm weird... have you tried to create a new PST file? That might help. Just export the items over to the new pst. Also are you using ActiveSync 4.1? Jsut checking.
Is it the contacts.pst file that is sync'd? I had not created one. With Outlook 2003 a .pst file is not automatically created. I have now created a contacts.pst file. If this is the one that is sync'd then I will try it again. Let me know...

Actually, a PST file is automatically created in Outlook 2003 and it includes the contacts, calendar, tasks as well as the e-mails that you get. Just think of it as an all in one file. Sometimes PSTs get corrupted which is why I recommended that you create a new one. Once you do that, right click on the contacts icon within ActiveSync and make sure it is syncing the right contacts (actually, do this before creating the new PST just to check if that's the problem in the first place). Let me know if this works.
His wife won't have a pst file as she is a mapi client. All her email is kept in a folder on the server. However, I don't have a solution to that issue. Sorry. Just was wanting to clarify on the pst/mapi client.
