Well what do you know. Looks like The boys over at Cingular have done it this time. Not only have they gobbled up AT&T Wireless in 2004, they have announced today that they will be changing all of their branding over from Cingular to AT&T. What this means is that the boys that were once blue then changed to orange are now changing back to blue, and the boys that were already orange are going to change to blue as well.
</div>"SBC recently said it would adopt AT&T's name, putting to rest questions about what would happen to the famous name. But speculation had also swirled about what would happen to the Cingular brand name once the AT&T deal closed.
In an interview with USA TODAY on Friday, Whitacre left no doubt about his plans. Asked if the company planned to drop the Cingular name in favor of the AT&T brand, Whitacre said, 'Yes, we do.'"
Seems like MaBell (ok, perhaps I'm dating myself with that, but still...) got broken up for a reason!
It sounds like all the kings horses and all the kings men are trying to put MaBell back together again.
In this area, Cingular took over the AT&T network, and things got a bit worse...then they sold our account to SunCom. SunCom is the absolute WORST. It's difficult for me to get mad about something like a cellphone, but considering I make about 20 cell calls a month and suncom dropped all 20 of them, that is saying a lot.
Oh yeah, and dialing out was a nightmare too. Reminded me of the old "party lines" of the 1970s. You'd get a message that the line was in use so you couldn't make a call.
I averaged it out that I had to dial at least 2 times before the call would connect.
