If you don't want to turn on the auto updates for windows XP SP 2, you can go with the express install available removed
Not sure how I feel about SP2 as I've heard a good percentage of the test machines blue screen. But since I just reimaged yesterday, I might go ahead and try it.

I removed the link because it's not complete. Probably wouldn't hurt anything, but might not help either.
I'm running SP2 on five different machines with nary a problem. On my main machine I've been running it since RC1 and it's been solid for me.
