Skype for Windows Mobile is now even easier to use. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of Skype on your device. Use a headset
By default, Skype calls are made over the loudspeaker, so you’ll want to do this to avoid upsetting everyone on the train. Most devices come with a hands-free kit.
Getting connected over WiFi
Skype can’t connect to the internet for you. This is something you’ll need to do yourself before you sign in. Please refer to your device’s manual to find out how to do this.
Maximising battery life
WiFi can be a serious drain on a device’s battery. You can save your battery by signing out of Skype when you’re not using it. Turning off WiFi when you plan to be offline for a while will also improve battery performance.
Your contacts
On most Windows Mobile devices, Skype works best when you have less than 100 contacts. It may be better to set up a new mobile account and have all your popular Skype contacts on this profile.
Using Skype on 3G while roaming
Before you go abroad, check the costs uof using your 3G connection while you’re roaming, as this is often very expensive. Many hotels offer WiFi for free, so you’ll be able to use Skype on your device and enjoy making free calls without running up huge mobile phone bills.
Getting started with Skype
Skype is a little piece of software that lets you talk over the Internet to anyone, anywhere in the world for free.

It comes with a handy set-up wizard.
Choose a Skype Name
This is the name people will use to call you on Skype.
Sound check
Check that your microphone and speakers are on. (If your computer doesn’t have these, you can get a cheap starter headset from the Skype store.)
