8925 question

hi, i have the 8925, or tilt phone. my questions is, the videos i take with my phone, i transfer them to my desktop and i can see the video file is where i save it, now is there a codec or some file i need to download to be able to veiw this file? because winamp wont play it, WMP wont play it, and i have some other play that does not reconize the file as well.

can some one point me in the right direction here?

thanks so so much.

mpeg 4, you can easily convert it with a video editor or I use avs. Or most divx players should play it.

I modify phones and now I am able to modify 8925s, I can install a custom rom with touchflo and unlock the gps and install gps software. For a custom rom install your looking at $50 to unlock the gps and install software your looking at $50 or I can do both for $75 if your interested pm me for details.

why do you have to "unlock" the gps. looking at other posts it looks like all you need to do is use google maps or live search or tomtom or one of those to be able to use the gps

I had the same problem trying to play videos after downloading them off my tilt. The fast and easy answer is:

1. Move the file from your Tilt to your PC and change the extension from mp4 to .3gp and it will immediately play in Quicktime

2. To play in Windows Media....I have not figured that out yet. But codec is on the right track (I remember this from years ago when I bought the first Pockect PC that hit the market).

I went to blackberry because the technology was not ready. I am back not that it is so much improved.

video conversion

HiHi!

It might depend on what 'mode' the video was shot, short, MMS, vid, whatever, offhand I forget the options. Odd, I do have QT but rename plus double-click returned 'huh what's that?' and personally don't care to investigate further because...

>2. To play in Windows Media....I have not figured that out yet. But codec is on the right >track (I remember this from years ago when I bought the first Pockect PC that hit the >market).

...the ultimate free media converter is SUPER(C) (yep that's how they write it) SUPER © . Unless you're really video-savvy it's *not* very intuitive but it *will* work just read the 'error fix' screen in detail.

For example to confirm that it will convert a Tilt 'video' I shot a test that produced an .mp4 which the rename to 3gp returned the 'huh?' from QT. (Meaning there is -some- incompatibility which is not uncommon by simple 'renaming.')

Under super (OK SUPER (C) LOL!) I selected output: mpg codec mpeg-ii and the default mp2 audio codec. DirectShow Decode was on by default, super returned an error that suggested deselecting it, and then it produced an .mpg that immediately played under WMP11.

But as I said not intuitive, and all this codec stuff plus various software/os/etc versions is a bit of a grey art.

Have a day!

Jim
