I currently have an 8525 and I'm considering buying the new IPhone as its replacement. Once I do that I want to unlock the 8525 and send it to my niece and her provider is T-Mobile. Can someone provide me the steps necessary to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Unless you know how to sim/SuperCID unlock I would suggest that you call ATT and tell them that you are going overseas and would like to unlock your phone to accept international sim cards. they will provide you with a set of numbers and you will use them to unlock it yourself. Takes less than a minute once you get the numbers from ATT.
OK, once the phone is unlocked then I can send it to my niece and she can get it activated on T-Mobile? Are there any other steps that I need to perform?

If you are comfortable unlocking it yourself through 3rd party software then yes go ahead and follow the instructions in that link but if not then let ATT do most of the work. I apologize for Tien-Avenger..its members like that which makes a noob say
