Hello, I was wondering if anyone had tried to use the CID/SIM unlock feature in order to turn their ATT 8525 WM6 into an HTC TYTN WM6, or if it is even possible?
Does anyone know if there is a link for the HTC TYTN WM6 upgrade. I know it is on the HTC website, but I cannot access it because I don't have the HTC branded device.
When I recently upgraded to WM6 on the 8525 I noticed that the startup screen had HTC on it. I allowed the device to complete the customization when it goes 'customization in 3,2,1,'. Then it loaded all the ATT crapware. Normally to get rid of the junkware I do a hard rest and before customization is complete I do a soft reset. This works fine now and I have no ATT junkware. But I noticed that when I now do a hard rest the HTC startup screen is gone and replaced by ATT startup screen. I re-upgraded to WM6 to try and get back the HTC startup screen, but it doesn't work, and I am stuck with the ATT startup scream. My question is, if I had done the soft reset the first time would I have had the HTC TYTN rom, and not the ATT 8525 rom that I have now?
Hey thanks F2504x4. Is there any way you could direct me to the exact link for the HTC TYTN rom? I am looking for something that is the same or the closest to the official HTC TYTN rom using WM6.
ok you could have posted this in the cid unlock thread no need to open a new one.
Ok once unlocked you can install any Hermes, TYTN, 8525 rom you wish, rather it be a custom rom, cingular rom, tmobile rom, HTC rom, softbank, ect...
If you read the Wiki on xda under Hermes you will find an assortment of shipped roms including the htc tytn wm6 rom.
As far a a direct link eh... maybe if I were in a better mood.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I did update my device successfully to use the TYTN rom. It is working great! I am proud of myself, but the true credit goes to all the people that put these lovely programs together. I will certainly give a donation.
Nates, does this now mean that my phone is SIM/CID unlocked forever, or do I need to repeat all the steps before installing a new rom again?
By the way Nates, I couldn't find the newer version you were refering to, any luck locating it?
By the way, is there a way to update the version I have without doing the whole install again? Does anyone know where I can find the newer version of the official HTC TYTN rom?
Hey everyone, i found this link for the TYTN II rom, does anyone know if it will work on my 8525? Or will it take up too much memory or not be compatible?
