New to the forum, also new owner of a HTC 8125. My question is... can I sync my 8125 using any standard USB cable (i.e. my old RAZR usb cable, or any other cable that has the proper end) or is there something special about the HTC 8125 USB cable? I was having some problems last night trying to get my device to be detected by ActiveSync. It would detect the connection via USB but never could locate the device. I'm using a V3 RAZR USB cable and was wondering if maybe USB 2.0 (or lack of) might be causing the problem. Thanks much!
I'm using a Moto Razr USB cable as we speak to update/charge my 8125, so I suspect the problem lies elsewhere. Have you downloaded the drivers for the device? Even a Razr won't connect to the PC with this cable if the drivers aren't in place. You may want to try the HTC website (the search command will turn up 8125 pages, even though they're no longer linked), or try the support pages for your cellular company. Best of luck!
Thanks for your reply! It was actually the cable. The V3 Razr cable worked correctly with the Razr but wouldn't allow me to connect my 8125 to my PC. Well I went and bought the official HTC 8125 USB sync cable and it worked just fine. I'm assuming maybe the V3 Razr cable isn't USB 2.0 compliant, but would still allow the device to charge.
