I just got this smart phone, admittedly used, and I'm having some trouble with it. The biggest problem is that it WILL NOT link to a wifi hot spot no matter what I do. It always shows one bar of connection at most, and even with that won't connect. I could be standing right next to an unsecured wireless router and the phone won't even recognize it. Any thoughts?? Am I doing something wrong?
I am not sure what you mean by "one bar of connection." The 8125, and I think most WM devices show a little icon with two arrows moving back and forth when it is looking for a signal. The icon, to me, looks like a pawn from a chess game.
Do you get that icon? Do you get the moving arrows?
Yeah, I have the two arrows moving. sometimes they'll even make contact with a signal, but only for a second, then it's roaming again. Usually it shows that the signal is too weak, but that's even when I'm standing right on top of the wireless router.
I've been getting the same issue on my 8125. My wireless router is in my room and I've stood next to it and still unable to connect. When you go into the wireless options to see available connections, there is another screen that shows one long bar with POOR on one end and GOOD on the other. Mine usually is around the POOR end no matter how close I am to the router. And that's not only with my router. I've gone to many places that offer free connection and still not able to connect. I can see all available connections tho.
Do you have an 8125 also? And have you ever messed with any of the internal settings? Maybe we can see what we both may have done and narrow it down cause I'm clueless.
You could try going to Start|Settings|Connections|Wireless LAN Take a look at the Power Mode tab. Maybe you are somehow set for max battery (which also lowers performance). Unlikely, but worth checking
I have a problem slightly simular to yours but mine occured after a hard reset. For some reason my wi-fi only works using the usb connection which is no good and pretty much pointless. I can connect to my router it shows I'm connected but I can't browse the web. I'm still looking for a solution.
