Post Upgrade to V 6.0

So it would seem that cingular is not going to upgrade the op sys for these devices, AGH

It would be nice if they could sell the new model cheaper, or up grade the unit, so why does equitment need to be out dated when it still work fine and will support at least 2 op system,,,,,

What devices are you refering to, the way outdated 8125? Or the Samsung BlackJack or what device.

My 8525 has an AT$T wm6 rom availble for download. And the reason the Black Jack didnt do it was Samsung not AT$T.

Also you need to relize that these roms are device specific so there is a limited amout that M$ can actually offer without creating 1000's of roms for phones they dont sell. If you want device support pick a good phone company like HTC and not Samsung. Yes the 8125 is a HTC device but its almost 4 years old now. Its like buying a laptop from HP in 2004 and ask them to upgrade it to Vista for free. I understand that you paid alot for your device and want the newest and greatest we all do, but you need to ask your self who benifits. Only you and the fact that HTC and AT$T do offer rom updates is a nice thing and they actually dont have to do it at all.

Also M$ does offer some support such as upgrade patch for mobile office and some help with the new 6.1 upgrade a few phones will be recieving.

Im not downing you at all just giving you a detailed reason why I dont think its M$ responibility to upgrade your OS. Try asking for a Vista upgrade for free and see how far that gets you.

Smile So outdated does not mean working

Yes it outdated 8125, an really it's not far out of date, based heard still exist and is being sold to this very day, To upgrade is could cost as much as 400 dollars to the 8525 from AT$T and by the time I get it, it will be outdated, in fact it already is based on IPHONE, Ouch

While you are right that roms have limiation, is still large enough for the new op sys and while you right it not M$ issue, it is a basic issue, for some people keep their car for 50K mile and others 200k, so an option for both really need to exist

I too like the HTC, love the GPS funcitionallity an so on. But it's not about that Look I keep my 386 running years after it was phase out as a firewall until it burned out; go mileage out of that, LOL

Look while vista is the next op sys, it a real a good example of new, like the first year of a car, it has may problem, yet people go out and buy it; but the old version XP is still being the corp standarded, HUM should say it all, in fact some corp have not move from 2000, AGH

So newer is not always better, and old sometime does the jobs, it's the new features I was looking out, for I am developing something for WCE device, and that mean old and new, for not all upgrade until it lost or to old....

I did not thing you where downing me, it just another view, it's about manged upgrades, when is a machine really no longer usable, and when does a new feature not going into it; Clear it's about making money not really meeting market needs for older support

thanks

Agree

No Iphone, to limited and tooooo costly for what it is

I will most likely wait until I see where the tech goes
I see, a future with smaller units with flexable screens maybe even a tri-recorder, LOL But I know that 1 terabyte drive are around the block and will most likely be on the market within the 18 month so think it pays to wait and see, by that time it will be op sys 7.x for WCE, LOL

The bear is waiting, for I am currently developing enterprise software for in the cloud, and know that at some point I will need current and future tech to get there, agh the pain, LOL

thanks
