jaytwou, if your still having problems?
Connect the phone to the PC and make sure Activesync starts up.
Start the RUU program, it will run and the phone should reboot to the load screen ( three color screen) don't worry about that and just continue through the update utility. It will not show you the current version but will show you the version you are loading. Just keep going until you see it say that you are ready to update. When you click on next it will take a minute or two but the progress bar should show up on the phone and PC.
{Mine went that way and it took me a couple of tries until I figured this out.}
