HTC Touch Diamond Releases!

It's time like these that it made me feel so stupid for buying the Touch. I could've waited for this baby. That's OK. I'll just be talking about it instead.

Nokia was planning on releasing a Symbian S60 touch phone with tilt sensor but happened to find some issues that made the giant-mobile maker delayed the launch date. With that, HTC became the first one with Touch interface AND tilt sensor! (meaning you can lean it and it can tell which direction that is closer to the ground)

It's a very stylish design phone. This is not just a hardware design, it also includes the software. The HTC Touch Diamond is packed with Windows Mobile 6. There are the pictures that you can go here.

Also, these are some highlights that MSMobiles had written up. I just copied this and pasted so you guys can see
  • main new feature of this phone not seen before: tilt sensor (it is a term that Horace Luke used himself in a presentation to 5 journalists in which we have participated) - it is not just an orientation sensor but full-blown tilt sensor
  • release date: in Europe and Asia in June 2008, later USA
  • powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 but at first it will be equipped with Opera Mobile 9.5 Internet browser because Microsoft is not ready yet with new Internet Explorer that offers rendering engine of full IE 6.0, built-in Flash and Silverlight support. Note: it is not clear when, if at all, this new Internet Explorer for Windows Mobile 6.1 will be delivered to customers buying HTC Touch Diamond - this is a hard fact
  • no memory card slot! this phone features 4 GB flash memory + 128 MB RAM + 256 MB ROM
  • this phone offers super-fast Internet - HSDPA with 7.2 MBit/second but (!) on the box (see photo above) it is written that upload speeds are up to 384kbps what means: this phone has no HSUPA (or there is mistake on the box in which this phone is sold!)
  • this phone doesn't offer quad-band-GSM and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA but instead of it offers tri-band GSM and dual-band UMTS/HSDPA, what means: there will be separate versions of HTC Touch Diamond for Europe/Asia and for USA
  • this phone is very solidly constructed: the case is made of metal and the display is covered with glass, that is done in technology thanks to which you can practically apply hammer to it and nothing happens - we have double-confirmed it with Horace Luke
  • USB connector serves many purposes: charging (compatible with mini-USB industry standard), data synchronization (compatible with mini-USB industry standard), stereo headset (HTC's proprietary HTC ExtUSB connector), logical disc (acts like memory stick so you don't have to install ActiveSync, etc. to exchange files)
  • dimensions: 102 mm (L) x 51 mm (W) x 11.5 m (T)
  • weight: 110 g
  • display: 2.8 inch TFT LCD with VGA resolution
  • pre-installed: HTC TouchFLO 3D, that however requires hardware acceleration and this phone indeed is doing 3D graphics in hardware thanks to special graphics chips!
  • main processor: Qualcomm MSM7201 528 MHz
  • GPS: built-in, based on Qualcomm chipset, both regular and assited GPS
I so do want one. Hopefully, no video driver issues!
