Issues With HTC, You Might Be Effected!

I've been holding off on writing about this for a while because I'm not hundred percent sure about the issues here. So far I've been using my device without really thinking anything about. I even posted numbers of articles on the HTC Touch, or how it's been selling like hotcakes! I guess I feel that I can't be too quiet any longer and I need to let you guys know!

I randomly found out about this a while back, but I didn't think of it too much, nor did I think that this was a solid case at all. There are some issues with phones by the HTC. The problem is not as breathe taking as blowing up in your hands or next to your head or anything like that at all. More of an issue with putting them together. Either they forget or didn't really care to included certain drivers for the devices to make it work to their full potential.

So essentially, it means that our devices are not performing as well as it could have. You've spent hundreds on the device, while you only are getting maybe 60% - 70% of those back. (I completely made up those numbers, I don't know the actual figures) The report was saying that it could be operating at even slower that HTC's devices 2 years ago.

The drivers are responsible to almost everything to do with your device. Normal programs, video playbacks, games, taking pictures and so on. There are also some issues with the touchscreen driver. Sometimes it makes your device works very slowly when you touch the screen. Some of the times that could happening would be when you watch the video and decided to adjust the volume on the player and the video just stops.

What so bad/sad about all these things is not that HTC let this error slips to the public. I'm sure the public can figure it out if they decided to release the drivers or something. The bad thing (almost worst) thing that I think is the response from the HTC:

Quote:
HTC is committed to delivering a portfolio of devices that offer a wide variety of communication, connectivity and entertainment functionality. HTC does not offer dedicated or optimized multimedia devices and can confirm that its Qualcomm MSM7xxx-based devices do not use ATI’s Imageon video acceleration hardware.

HTC believes the overall value of its devices based on their combination of functionality and connectivity exceeds their ability to play or render high-resolution video. These devices do still provide a rich multimedia experience comparable to that of most smartphones and enable a variety of audio and video file formats.

HTC values its customers and the overall online community of mobile deviceenthusiasts and fans. HTC plans to include video acceleration hardware in future video-centric devices that will enable high-resolution video support.
Pretty much it was a slap to the face and say "just move on, who cares?". Now, what kind of devices are effected? Here's the list:

HTC TyTN II (MSM7200), also known as:
  • HTC Kaiser
  • T-Mobile MDA Vario III
  • AT&T Tilt
  • Vodafone v1615
HTC Touch Dual (MSM7200), also known as:
  • HTC Nike
HTC Touch Cruise (MSM7200), also known as:
  • HTC Polaris
HTC Wings (MSM7200), also known as:
  • HTC S730
HTC Titan (MSM7500), also known as:
  • Sprint Mogul PPC-6800
    Verizon XV6800
HTC Vogue (MSM7500), also known as:
  • HTC Touch P3050 (this is not the normal HTC Touch)
    Sprint Touch
    Verizon Touch XV6900
HTC Libra (MSM7500), also known as:
  • HTC S720
HTC Iris (MSM7500), also known as:
  • HTC S640
After I posted about the greatness of HTC last year, I'm a bit sadden by this post. My device is effected. Worst part is that the previous one was too! So I guess that's why I didn't see that big of a difference between my Wing and my HTC Touch (or Sprint Touch).

What can you do? Well, this site will tell you exactly what you can do. Maybe HTC will work something out with all of us? I don't know. All I know is that we were shafted I'm not too happy, but I still am liking my Touch. However, if the performance will double up or increase by how many ever percent, I'll be happy.

What do you guys think? What was/were, is/are your experience(s) with your device now?
