Ok the hack should work contact me as I would like a copy of the hack, Im using the usb teathering right now its a little slow here as we only have edge.
Yes it will void you warranty but all you have to do is reflash the rom back to the oem rom, and they will be non the wiser.
Have you tried maybe core player or another video program as oposed to wmp? Also try wm6 and see if this solves the issue, may have been a bad plug-in.

It should as WM6 does support sdhc have not tried this actual rom but I have a 6gb in mine right now. check out dz-tech.com got mine cheap when they first came out.
