I am new here though I have read all the threads I managed to solve some of my problems but I still need some help.
I have this phone for almost a year but I never use it to surf the net or download any data. Two days ago I was tempted to buy some ringtones from the att cite but when I received the tx message I was not able to download. I called the CS and she told me with my phone I will not be able to go to the internet until I pay $39.00 more for that service. I tried to find the solution on line and stumble this site and I was able to download using mediaNet. From the forum I managed to delete the mediaNet after that to avoid future charges.
My question is now when I try to use WiFi from available unsecured networks I get the signal I connect but I can’t open the page. Sometimes it says this page cannot open and sometimes it says I cannot access the Internet using this network or something like that.
My question is
1. How do I set up my WiFi so I can be able to surf on those hot spot areas? I know is connected but I cannot go to the Internet at all.
2. How can I set to use at home too. I have a westell 6100 Modem/router…Is this a modem/router as I read online or it is just a modem? I think I need to buy the real router right? But if one can help me with the setting if this is just a modem I will go and get a router tomorrow.
I 've tried to follow this information but I didn't understand where I should set this from.

mine works with the following settings:
- G and B enabled...not the Auto 108kb setting
- Wep 128 not PSK
- adding a static IP for the MAC address of the device
- Hardware Version V3H1
- Firmware Version V1.0.128_1.0.1 (latest)
- plus disabling the proxy
- I also called to tell Cingular to disable their services for the internet as i had no need to be charged."
