Softphone, is a software application that runs on a computer that mimics the function of a "hard" phone. Sype is an example of a softphone application. I use Avaya's Enterprise Softphone on my laptop, looks and functions just like the phone on my desk. If someone calls my desk, I can be anywhere with WIFI access with my laptop and it looks like I'm in the office. It's great if you want to hangout in the backyard with the dogs while your boss thinks you're in the office.
Avaya also offers a softphone for the 8125. In theory I should have all the capabilties of my deskphone: line appearences, hold, xfer, speed dial, and conference features on my pocket PC. It works great on my laptop, but it has a slightly faster processer than the 8125 does.
I think Cisco and Nortel offer a simular product and I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet.
Thanks,
Fatbasta.
