Hi PPC'ers,
I just wanted to post a follow-up to the Gmail "recent:username" thing (see the previous threads). A fellow addict contacted me via email and brought up an issue concering the "recent:username" fix (actually, a great catch on his part). I never put two and two together, but we were both getting an error message on our 8525 that read something like "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Check your email settings and try again." Most likely this is happening when you are trying to send mail via Gmail on your PPC. To fix the error, I ended up changing my outgoing settings. So in conjunction with using the "recent:username" option as stated in the previous post, you will also need to do the following:

Go to your messaging app then Menu> Tools> Options> Accounts> and Edit your Gmail account. Tap "Next" until you get to the page with the "Options" button (Page 4/4) and tap "Options". On page 2/3 select the checkbox that says "Use separate settings for outgoing mail". On the "Settings for outgoing mail" page, enter your Gmail username and password WITHOUT the "recent:" thing in front of your username. Check the boxes to "Save password" and "Use SSL". Leave the "Domain" textbox blank. Tap "Finish" to save your changes. Hopefully this will correct the messaging error some of you may have been getting with Gmail on your PPC.
