how to fix time zone discrepancies | | I think the 8525 is working properly. When you schedule a meeting, the time entered reflects the time zone you're in at the time you are entering the appointment. So if you're in Chicago (CST), and you're scheduling ahead of time for a 10:00 am meeting in New York, you'll have to enter it as 9:00 am. When that date arrives and you're actually in New York (EST) the appointment will appear as 10:00 am (which is actually 9:00 am in Chicago).
I think the same thing is occurring for your recurring appointments that appear beyond Daylight Savings time, although I've never had that particular problem.
One solution is to buy a travel itinerary program (Trip Tracker, City Time)if you travel a lot. These programs will allow you to schedule appointments in various cities which reflect the actual time in those cities. You won't have to make any manual calculations. You just have to remember that whenever you look at future appointments, the times you see will be relative to the time zone you're in at that particular moment. I usually put in an all day event reflecting the event and city I'm attending when planning into the future. That also reminds me that the times I'm seeing are relative to the time zone of that particular city.
Obviously, the same principal holds true for scheduling flights that span time zones. |
