Hi BrightEyes
8525 #1 17Nov2006.
Fantastic machine, tho creaky engineering.
It failed on day 28. . . touch screen failed touch
#2 lasted a bit longer, 33 days. . . 13 keys on front became schizophrenic, Dr Jekyll for awhile, then Mr Hyde which would disallow answering the incoming call or triggering up/down Start/End, etc
#3 arrived last Wed, 24Jan.
All replaced overnite express by Cingular Warranty.
They are top drawer.
I use a 2gig micro SD, SPB Backup you better run one EVERY night 'cuz a lowest level reset is the first 'let me help you' the Cing/HTC techies learn!), SPB Pocket Plus (App Menu). One of the BEST to buy is MS Voice Command v1.6(?). I've 2,000+ Contacts and it is amazing how it finds correct person to call. . . "she" hates the word 'mobile,' so use 'cell.'
It runs PowerPoint presentations using Igo and Quickpoint flawlessly (don't forget to set it NOT to turn off for battery conservation) and has a high WOW Factor.
Lot's of very cool apps on this site.
One is a CAB from Sleuth255 called PTTFix which makes the useless PushToTalk button into button #5 having 2 states (push, push & hold). I kick off Voice Command with push, NewNote with hold.
You will HATE #1 for messaging, it starts E-mail/TestMsg like stuck in glue unless FIRST you start Messaging from StartMenu. Then, if using SPB PocketPlus, leave Messaging in memory and set Exit to terminate those program apps not wanted to remain in memory.
MemoryMaid is an outstanding memory cleaner-upper. Buy it. I also really like Bible With You, Concordance and Oxford Dictionary, all from GMP Soft.
RepliGo is very cool as a printer driver that makes ANY document/graphic very useful on the 8525.
It streams video quite well, actually.
It is fast.
I like that.
It is prone(?) to infant mortality.
Early adopters expect that. . .
Good luck,
PP
