I do not think Sprite will do a backup of the OS ROM, but that may have changed with WM5. You can safeguard yourself by seeing if there is an OS image for your device on the HP support site. I would not try an ROM reflashing without a way back.
It is very dangerous to try to flash your device with an OS version not designed for it. Unlike desktop Windows, which ships with many of the most common hardware drivers, each WM OS release is fairly device-specific to keep its size down. A problematic OS image can leave you with a nice paper weight and it can be expensive to send it in to HP to have an appropriate ROM image restored. |
